The Select Image File(s) window appears when you command Easel to add an image. Use it to select the image or images that you wish to add.
Click, scroll, and expand the Look In list to navigate to the folder where the desired image or images are stored. You can also click the folder icon to move up a level. When the window first appears, the Look In list is set to whatever folder was last used.
The list on the left shows image files contained in the selected folder. It shows all recognized image files by default, but you can limit it to show only files of a specific format by clicking the down arrow next to the Files of Type list and selecting that format.
When you select a file on the list, a thumbnail version of the image will display to the right. If the file contains a thumbnail (if it came from a digital camera it probably does), Easel will use it. If not, Easel checks to see if its companion image browser is installed, and if so and if a thumbnail has already been created for the image, it uses it. If not, it creates a new thumbnail. If the image is large, this can result in a perceptible delay. To minimize delays, Easel does not generate thumbnails when you scroll rapidly through the list; a file must be selected for a second or two before a thumbnail is created.
Double clicking the thumbnail image forces Easel to generate a new thumbnail that is as large as will fit in the preview window.
To select a single file, just click it, or double click it to select it, add it, and close the window. To select a series of contiguous files, click the first one, then hold down the Shift key and click the last one. To select multiple files one at a time, hold down the Ctrl key and click them individually.
To delete a file, select it on the list and click the X icon.
When you have selected the desired file or files, click OK to add them to the composition. Click Cancel to close the window without adding files.
