An Easel composition consists of any combination of one or more images, captions, and frames arranged on a page. Examples are shown in What can you do with Easel, and details of how they were created are at About the Examples.
To create an Easel composition:
Click File/New on the main menu and set up the page
Click Add and use the Add Menu to add images, captions, and/or frames.
Use the mouse to move and resize. To move an item, position the mouse on it, press and hold down the left button, drag it around, and release the button when done. To resize an item, move the mouse over a corner until the cursor changes to a resizing arrow, press and hold down the left button, drag the corner, and release the button when done.
Use context menus to change other properties of an item, e.g. to crop an image, change caption text, or change frame color and style. Click the right mouse button on any item, then select the desired entry from the menu that pops up.
To move beyond the basics:
To edit more than one item at a time, first select them by holding down the Shift key and using the mouse to drag a box that touches them, then click Select and use the selection menu.
Click Tools/Precision Alignment Tool and use PAT to arrange images quickly and accurately.
Click Tools/Sizing and Tiling to use the automated sizing and tiling tools.
Click Tools/Auto Arrange to generate arrangements automatically.
To save your work:
To save a new composition for the first time, click File/Save As, navigate to the desired folder, enter a name for it, and click Save.
To save changes to a composition, click File/Save.
To save a new version of a composition without overwriting the previous one, click File/Save As, provide a new name, and click Save.
To save an image file of your composition, click File/Save Image and perform the steps explained in Saving an Image. If you don't understand the difference between saving your composition and saving an image of your composition, see A little bit about how Easel works.
To retrieve your work:
Click File/Open and select the desired composition file
To print your work:
Click File/Print, then click OK in the print dialog box that appears.
Note: You should not make changes to the paper size, source, or margins that are shown in this print dialog box, as you may get unexpected results. Instead, you should set these as desired by clicking File/Page Setup before clicking File/Print. You can, however, click the Printer button on this dialog and make changes to printer properties such as paper type, print quality, etc.
